Straight legal answer: the practical details
The practical test is not whether a site accepts Australian dollars. Check the Australian Communications and Media Authority register for permitted services, then treat any offshore casino pitch with caution.
Key distinctions
- The federal ban covers online casino-style games offered in Australia.
- ACMA can investigate, issue warnings and request website blocking.
- The legal provider register is the quickest first check.
Put the information to use
- Search the ACMA register.
- Read the operator name, not only the brand.
- Save screenshots of any claims.
- Report a prohibited service to ACMA.
